What Does the Research Say?
• Top 5 reasons employees stay : 1) exciting and challenging work; 2) opportunities for career growth, learning, and development; 3) high-quality co-workers; 4) fair pay; and 5) supportive management (Kaye & Jordan-Evans, 2008, p. 10). What does turnover cost you?

• In a study of 24 publically traded companies, those with high morale outperformed similar companies in their same industries by almost 2.5 to 1 (Sirota Survey Intelligence, 2006). How is the morale at your workplace?

• In a study of 50 global companies, those with highly engaged employees increased operating income 19% over 1 year, while companies with low employee engagement levels showed declines of 32% in operating income(Towers Perrin, 2008, p. 5). Are your employees or co-workers engaged?

This website focuses on helping people improve the health and effectiveness of their workplace to reap the benefits described in the above research. In these pages you will find information on positive leadership, my consultation services, and other materials I hope you find useful in your development.

People in organizations face daunting challenges--- ranging from office politics to change management to maintaining market share. Organizations also have great potential for growth and creating psychological well-being. Most workplaces have a long history of focusing on quality improvement, training, professional development, identifying talented leaders and so forth. Did you know that there is research that examines such things as the effecitiveness of executive coaching? These efforts develop people and improve the organization’s ability to meet goals.

People can often improve their workplaces with relatively minor changes in their assumptions and behaviour. Blaming “the system” or “red-tape” may make us feel better on the short term, but people are the core of organizations. People have the power to change how they work and relate to each other. We spend most of our lives working: We MUST find meaning in that work.
